The Assassin’s Creed series – is it still good?

The Assassin’s Creed video game franchise is one of the most successful and well known video game series of all time. There are currently twelve games released in the main series, countless books, comics, prequels, and a movie. But it’s been some time since I played any Assassin’s Creed games which caused me to wonder if they’re still worth playing. This is a heads up for anyone who is interested in playing it but doesn’t want to spend hours researching info on the newer parts of the series.

What makes a video game good?

We all have our own criteria for what makes a video game good, but here’s one thing that’s universally true: a good game is fun. If the game isn’t fun, people simply won’t play it! Other than that, there are several factors that contribute to making a game great: graphics, gameplay mechanics, story line, and replayability (to name just a few). An objectivelly good dame should score pretty high on all of these fronts. There are so many games already and new ones are being produced all the time, so how does Assassin’s Creed comapre nowadays?

What is Assassin’s Creed?

For those who are not fully familiar with this series, I want to brush up on the basics quickly before we decide whether this game is still good.

The Assassin’s Creed series is a video game franchise that was first released in 2007. It is developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft.

The series takes place during the Third Crusade, between 1191 and 1193. The main character is Desmond Miles, a bartender who finds himself forced to relive the genetic memories of his ancestor in order to find a way for him to save humanity from an ancient organization called The Templars.

The game has been met with both critical acclaim and commercial success. It has sold over 83 million copies since its launch and has won many awards, including Best Action/Adventure Game at the Spike Video Game Awards, Outstanding Achievement in Storytelling from Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, and Character Design from National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers.

Is Assassin’s Creed still good?

The short answer is yes!

The first thing that comes to mind when you think about Assassin’s Creed is probably its historical setting. It takes place in 12th century Jerusalem and pits you against Templars who want to find an ancient artifact called “The Apple” that can be used to control free will. As an assassin named Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad, you’re tasked with infiltrating their ranks using stealth and assassination tactics—and yes, there’s also some time travel involved. The idea of exploring an exotic time period like this one was groundbreaking when AC first came out; nowadays it seems pretty standard for games set in ancient civilizations. However, since AC has so many different setting to expore in different games, gamers can never be bored of it! The settings are all very different from each other and offer something new for players every time they play through a new game in this series.

But what really sets AC apart from other games with similar themes is its rich world building—the attention to detail in the environments, architecture and clothing are so immersive that it feels like you’re actually walking around medieval world.
